Preserving Sacred Knowledge: The Role of Libraries in Promoting Interfaith Dialogue and Peacebuilding
This paper seeks to contribute to existing knowledge that needs to be revamped and cause reeducation of the role and importance of the library to the adherents of religions and all users of knowledge in promoting peace and interfaith understanding among the diversities of religions in the world. It also seeks to cut the role ignorance plays amongst the users of sacred contents to indoctrinate members who don't have access to quality information on the sacredness behind the knowledge that embeds their religious faith, and encourages interfaith understanding. This paper explores the vital role of libraries in preserving sacred knowledge and promoting interfaith understanding and peacebuilding. In an increasingly diverse religious landscape, libraries serve as essential resources for disseminating information that fosters dialogue and mutual respect among different faith communities. Through providing access to sacred texts and facilitating educational initiatives, librarians help bridge gaps in knowledge that often lead to misunderstandings and conflict. The paper emphasises the importance of libraries in not only preserving cultural heritage but also in cultivating a culture of peace through community engagement and outreach programs. Ultimately, the study advocates for increased recognition of libraries as critical players in fostering interfaith dialogue and social harmony in diverse societies.
