Randomized Controlled Trial: Attentional vs Deconstructive Meditation
This project explores the effects and underlying mechanisms of two forms of meditation—attentional and deconstructive—within the framework of a randomized controlled trial. Grounded in contemplative science, the study aims to examine how these practices influence self-related psychological processes implicated in depression. Specifically, it investigates the role of selflessness, operationalized through constructs such as cognitive decentering and connectedness to others and nature, as a potential mechanism of change. The study compares the impact of attentional versus deconstructive meditation approaches on these processes and their relevance for mental health prevention.
