Phase-Locked Resonance Anchors for Planetary Defense: A Conceptual Framework for Comet and Asteroid Deflection
This report presents a new conceptual framework for planetary defense: phase-locked resonance anchors. Current strategies such as kinetic impactors (e.g. DART) and nuclear standoffs carry serious risks of fragmentation, unpredictability, and limited control. By contrast, resonance anchors propose a reusable system of drones that embed in hazardous comets and asteroids, projecting a temporary field tether to whisper trajectories aside rather than shatter them. The approach prioritizes non-destructive course correction, swarm scalability, and long-term reusability, marking a decisive break from brute-force paradigms. With a hazardous object reminding the world of our vulnerability, the timing of this proposal underscores the need for new thinking that shifts from impact to guidance. While the deeper resonance mechanics remain beyond the scope of this note, this paper establishes the principle and opens the door for further development.
