GREEN SYNTHESIS OF SILVER NANOPARTICLES LOADED ELAEOCARPUS GANITRUS LEAVES EXRACT

Elaeocarpus ganitrus (Roxb.)—commonly known as Rudraksha and belonging to the family Elaeocarpaceae—is a medium-sized evergreen tree distributed across the Himalayan region and several Indian states, with deep roots in traditional and Ayurvedic systems of medicine for managing neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, metabolic, and gynecological conditions. The present study consolidates botanical classification, ethnomedicinal relevance, and contemporary pharmacological perspectives on E. ganitrus, alongside the emerging interface of green nanomedicine for sustainable, plant-based nanoparticle (NP) synthesis and drug delivery. Framed within the paradigm of green chemistry, this work highlights eco-friendly NP fabrication approaches—leveraging plant extracts—to reduce toxic reagents and environmental burden while enabling site-specific delivery through nanocarriers such as metallic NPs, polymeric NPs, dendrimers, mesoporous silica NPs, and lipid-based systems. Within experimental observations included in this manuscript, a calibration dataset (0.25–1.5 μg/5ml) demonstrated a monotonic increase in absorbance, indicating reliable linear spectrophotometric behavior suitable for quantitative analysis in downstream assays. Collectively, the review underscores the therapeutic promise of E. ganitrus in traditional practice, the scientific rationale for its integration into modern green nanomedicine, and the feasibility of environmentally benign delivery platforms for future pharmacological translation.
