GenAI perspective - taking inhibits the positive bias in self - evaluation
The self constitutes the core of personality. While individuals can evaluate themselves through both self-perspectives and others' perspectives, self-processing typically exhibits a positivity bias, characterized by faster responses to and better memory for self-relevant positive information. Others' perspectives have been shown to mitigate this bias. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), a novel form of social interaction—human-generative AI (GenAI) interaction—has emerged. This raised a pivotal research question: Whether individuals could utilize GenAI's perspective for self-evaluation to reduce their self-positivity bias.
