Understanding the Health-RI metadata schema in terms of descriptive, structural and administrative metadata

We are often asked about the scope and purpose of the HealthDCAT-AP–based Health-RI metadata schema. To provide clarity, we distinguish between different types of metadata and their respective functions. Although many categorizations exist, a widely used one groups metadata into three categories: descriptive, structural, and administrative. The latter is sometimes further subdivided into technical, preservation, and rights metadata.

In this poster, we examined how the Health-RI metadata schema - focusing on the Dataset class - supports these functions by assigning each property to one of the three categories. Four members of the Health-RI D1 metadata task group first categorized the properties independently; discrepancies were then discussed, and consensus was reached.
