A Comprehensive Review: Work-Life Balance, Social Support, and Professional Quality of Life in End-of-Life Care Nurses
Work-life balance and social support play a crucial role in the professional quality of life (QOL) for nurses working in end-of-life care. When nurses struggle to maintain a healthy work-life balance, it can greatly affect their feelings of compassion and satisfaction, leading to issues like burnout and secondary traumatic stress. While having a strong support system from family and friends is vital for their overall well being, the effect on their professional QOL can differ depending on their work environment. For instance, home care nurses might feel the impact of social support more acutely compared to those in palliative care units. To help improve the well-being of these dedicated nurses, it's important to implement strategies such as encouraging digital disconnection and offering more flexible career options. These changes can not only enhance their personal lives but also elevate the quality of care they provide to their patients. Key words: self-care, compassion fatigue, compassion satisfaction, Burnout, professionals.
