Time Dilation A Special Relativity Corrective Overview

Abstract Time dilation is one of the most famous predictions of special relativity, yet it is often misunderstood or misrepresented. The correct statement: a moving clock (relative to an inertial observer) is measured to tick more slowly. Proper time along the moving clock’s worldline remains invariant. This paper derives the result from the Lorentz transformation, shows worked examples, and clears common misconceptions.

Abstract

Abstract Time dilation is one of the most famous predictions of special relativity, yet it is often misunderstood or misrepresented. The correct statement: a moving clock (relative to an inertial observer) is measured to tick more slowly. Proper time along the moving clock’s worldline remains invariant. This paper derives the result from the Lorentz transformation, shows worked examples, and clears common misconceptions.
