A STUDY ON THE IMPACT OF EXTROVERSION AND INTROVERSION ON SELF ESTEEM AMONG ADULTS
This research paper aims to investigate the influence of extroversion and introversion on self-esteem among individuals. Drawing upon existing literature and personality theories, particularly focusing on the works of Carl Jung, Eysenck, and Gray, the study explores how these personality traits relate to selfperceptions and social interactions. Conducted through a quantitative approach, the research paper utilized a convenient sampling method to collect data from 200 participants aged 18-37 years in District Mardan. Participants completed surveys assessing extroversion, introversion, and self-esteem using established instruments like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale respectively. Statistical analysis, including regression analysis using SPSS Version 16.0, was employed to examine the relationships between extroversion, introversion, and self-esteem. The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between extraversion and self-esteem, while introversion was a significant negative predictor of self-esteem. Extraverted individuals tended to exhibit higher levels of self-esteem, attributed to their outgoing nature and positive self-perceptions. Conversely, introverted individuals displayed lower self-esteem, possibly due to tendencies towards introspection and social withdrawal. The research paper highlights the importance of considering personality traits, particularly extroversion and introversion, in understanding self-esteem. Future research papers should delve deeper into the underlying mechanisms and contextual factors influencing the relationship between personality and self-esteem. Additionally, expanding the sample size, conducting qualitative studies, and exploring these relationships among different age groups could provide further insights into this complex interplay.
