Från stoffträngsel till stoffträngsel? : Lärares upplevelser av och förväntningar på det ämnesmässiga innehållet i ämnesplanerna för samhällskunskap Gy11 och Gy25

This paper aims to illustrate civic teachers’ experiences and perceptions of content overload in the curriculum of Gy11 and Gy25 and to compare how these experiences and perceptions differ. Through a quantitative survey, civics teachers have responded to statements about their experience of content overload and their expectations for the upcoming curriculum. The findings indicate a broad consensus regarding the content overload in the civics curriculum, Gy11. At the same time, there is a concern that the upcoming curriculum will suffer from the same content overload. However, teachers generally express a positive attitude towards the shift from Gy11 to Gy25 and feel that, despite the content overload, it is easy to create a common thread in the teaching. The study also shows that even though the content is overwhelming, it is also relevant, and the teachers with more experience testify that the content becomes easier to relate to over the years.
