JX: A Social Cost Function for Structural Silence and Behavioral Inhibition
This project introduces “JX,” a transdisciplinary model that formalizes the hidden social costs of behavioral inhibition, silence, and conformity. Drawing from social psychology, game theory, and sociology, this theory explains why individuals refrain from speaking or acting—even when it is in their best interest—due to perceived social penalties. The JX function represents a structural cost curve imposed by the environment, culture, and class-based expectations. It provides a framework for understanding modern social pressure in academic, corporate, and interpersonal settings. Keywords: social cost, silence, behavioral inhibition, conformity, equilibrium, JX theory
