Impact Of The New Education Policy (Nep) 2020 In India:A Transformational Shift In Educational Vision And Practice
Abstract The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a watershed moment in India's educational landscape, replacing the National Policy on Education (1986) after more than three decades. NEP 2020 sets forth a comprehensive framework to transform both school and higher education systems in India, aiming to equip learners with critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability for the 21st century. With structural reforms such as the 5+3+3+4 curricular design, the policy focuses on foundational literacy, inclusive and equitable education, integration of vocational training, and the use of technology in teaching and administration. It further advocates the promotion of Indian languages, the restructuring of higher education with multidisciplinary institutions, and academic flexibility. This paper explores the key objectives, systemic impact, and implementation challenges of NEP 2020, while offering policy suggestions and actionable recommendations for achieving its ambitious goals.
