The aim of this study is to explore how health coaches workwith clients to promote adherence to PAP. Ten semi-structured interviews wereconducted with health coaches from six different health centers in a region in southernSweden. The empirical material was analyzed using qualitative content analysis, supported by a coding framework based on an interview guide designed to address thestudy’s aim. The results show that health coaches promote client adherence throughvarious activities such as water aerobics, cardio training, circuit training, and recoverysessions, conducted both at health centers and in collaboration with external providers. The conclusion is that health coaches apply strategies such as motivational interviewing(MI) and coaching to support adherence among clients. Follow-up and reflection alsocontribute to long-term behavioral change. An important aspect is individualization, which fosters a sense of security, empowerment, and sustainable change. This studycontributes to increased knowledge about the role of health coaches in supporting PAPadherence in the Swedish health center context.
