Advancing Cellular Infrastructure: Design and Analysis of Cell Tower Using Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Near Don Honorio Ventura State University
This study provides an innovative process on the design and analysis of cellular infrastructure inDon Honorio Ventura State University, Bacolor, Pampanga, Philippines by utilizing the use of hot-dipgalvanized steel (HDGS) as an alternative material in constructing lattice cell towers. The overwhelminguser load on the current infrastructure in the vicinity of the university results in poor internet connectivityand data access, this requires the urgency of enhancing cellular infrastructure to boost signal coverage andprovide a better education and communication quality. HDGS is a widely used material known for itscorrosion resistance and increased mechanical properties ideal to use in order to withstand harshenvironments. The research integrates the codes and specifications based on Telecommunications IndustryAssociation (TIA-222-G) and the Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) to achieve optimal results inthe design and analysis of the cell tower. The structural analysis of a cell tower designed with hot-dipgalvanized steel, using Microsoft Excel and STAAD Pro, revealed critical insights into the stressdistribution and resilience of the structure under various load conditions. In conclusion, the use of hot-dipgalvanized steel in the design and analysis of the three-legged lattice cell tower guarantees enhancedoverall structural stability, and ensures that the design of the cell tower meets industry regulations andsafety requirements promoting consistency and reliability in structural performance.
