Exploring the Antecedents, Consequences and Mediating Role of Employee Ambidexterity in Indian Service Sector
Abstract: This study examines the antecedents and outcomes of employee ambidexterity within the Indian service industry. This research aims to further our understanding of this relationship by clarifying the mediating functions of employee ambidexterity. The authors performed a quantitative study employing a structured questionnaire to gather survey data from 424 employees in the Indian service sector. The authors employed partial least-squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) to evaluate the interactions between constructs. The data indicate that ability- and opportunity-enhancing HR practices are precursors to employee ambidexterity; however, motivational practices do not correlate with employee ambidexterity. Task performance is positively correlated with employee ambidexterity, which acts as a mediating variable between ability and opportunity-enhancing HR practices and task performance. The research study offers important details about the current literature on strategic HRM. The writers offer theoretical and practical consequences for both academics and practice.
