Artificial Intelligence In Orthodontics : Review Article

AbstractThis comprehensive review explores the applications and limitations of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in orthodontics, covering diagnosis, treatment planning, and prognosisprediction. AI has transformed orthodontic care by enhancing treatment efficiency, accuracy, and patient outcomes. The review discusses various AI subfields, including machine learning, neural networks, and deep learning, and their applications in cephalometric analysis, occlusal trait diagnosis, facial analysis, and upper airway assessment. AI driven solutions have shown promise in managing impacted teeth, cleft lip and palate management, custom orthodontic appliances, and aligner therapy. While AI holds immense potential for improving orthodontic care, limitations such as data scarcity, biased models, and ethical considerations need to be addressed. This review aims to provide insights into the current state of AI in orthodontics and its future directions, highlighting the need for further research to refine AI models and ensure widespread adoption in clinical practice.
