The Roman Telescope Proposal System and the Cycle 1 Call for Proposals
During Roman operations, the Science Support Center (SSC) will issue ~annual General Investigator calls for the science community to submit proposals for: Funding to conduct science investigations on Roman data or in support of future Roman observations. General Astrophysics Surveys (new observations). Most science proposals to Roman will be for data analysis support given the volume and utility of anticipated data from core community surveys. Observational Research programs will be solicited three times during the anticipated 5-year prime mission, during Cycles 1, 3, and 4. ~30 programs in total are expected to be supported during these three cycles. The observing modes offered in Cycle 1 include WFI imaging and WFI spectroscopy. The Roman Telescope Proposal System (RTPS) was designed for submission of all Roman proposals. It is a web-based single-stage proposal form. Allows for multiple re-submissions of proposals. Will notify users of a successful submission.
