Enhancing Healthcare Data Security Through Robust Cryptographic Measures For Medical Image Protection
Abstract— Patient's data are stored in an electronic record known as Electronic Health Record (EHR). This EHR should be kept confidential because it contains sensitive patient information. Technological developments have made data easier to access, which highlights the importance of secure communication. Hospital network weaknesses and online repositories put patient information at risk, which raises ethical questions. The DICOM standard is followed during data transfers to ensure integrity and copyright protection. Methods such as steganography and cryptography are used to safely transfer medical data and pictures. This project innovates by integrating several techniques: using a discrete wavelet transform for fast transmission, embedding data via LSB in cover pictures, and encrypting DICOM headers with DNA-based AES. Comparing experimental results to current methods, they show improved performance in terms of data security and secrecy. Encrypting medical images is essential to safeguarding patient privacy since it keeps private sensitive health information
