KreativInstitut.OWL: An Interdisciplinary Institute for Transfer Between Science, Cultural and Creative Industries

In 2023 a newly founded institute, the KreativInstitut.OWL (in short, KIO), started its work. Located in Detmold, OstwestfalenLippe, Germany, three academic partners combine forces, TH OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Detmold University of Music and Paderborn University. The KIO’s mission is to establish and reinforce the knowledge and technological transfer between science, the cultural and creative industries, and society. In this report, we present the KIO and its five current artistic and scientific research groups, spanning a wide range of disciplines from media production and music to computer science and digital humanities. In the spirit of our mission, we welcome collaborations with potential academic, industry, and cultural partners.
