Human-Computer Interaction from the Lens of Learning Experience Evaluation – Discussing Field Study Methods from a Newly Founded University
This workshop position paper focuses on HCI field research from the lens of learning experience design and research. We use the case of a newly founded university where all courses are designed and studied using HCI methods, e.g., usability and user experience methods. The aim is to understand and research the student learning experiences in digitally enhanced courses. Teachers work with instructional designers to design the blended courses. HCI in this context is defined as student interaction with the digital tools, student interaction with peers or instructors through digital technologies, and student interaction with the digitalized material and pedagogical methods. However, it remains unclear how, and which, HCI fieldwork methods can be used – or whether new ones need to be developed – to gain insights into effective, efficient, and appealing learning experience designs.
