A Study on Partial Replacement of Cement with Rice Husk Ash and Bamboo Biochar in M25 Grade Concrete
The production of cement is a major contributor to global CO₂ emissions, prompting a need for alternative materials in construction. This study investigates the effects of partially replacing cement with Rice Husk Ash (RHA) and Bamboo Biochar (BB) in M25 grade concrete. RHA, rich in amorphoussilica, and BB, a porous carbon-rich byproduct of bamboo pyrolysis, were used at varying replacement levels (0%, 4%, 8%, 10%, 12%,14%,16%&20%) by weight of cement. Slumpand compressive strength tests were conducted at 7 and 28 days. Results indicated that upto 10% replacement improves compressive strength and work ability without compromising durability. The research demonstrates the potential of these material stored uceenvironmental impact and promote sustainable construction practices.
