14‐2: High‐Sensitivity Micro‐LED‐Based Fingerprint Recognition System Using Charge Integrators and Differential Sensing Method

This paper proposes a high‐sensitivity micro‐LED‐based fingerprint recognition system without any additional sensors. It is proposed to adopt charge integrators for readout circuits and differential sensing method to eliminate electronic noise for high‐sensitivity. Although photocurrent difference between ridge and valley is as small as 4.56 nA, the proposed system successfully produces a 1.38 V readout voltage difference in 300 μs. This demonstrates that the proposed system recognizes various fingerprint patterns across the entire display screen with high‐sensitivity.

Abstract

This paper proposes a high‐sensitivity micro‐LED‐based fingerprint recognition system without any additional sensors. It is proposed to adopt charge integrators for readout circuits and differential sensing method to eliminate electronic noise for high‐sensitivity. Although photocurrent difference between ridge and valley is as small as 4.56 nA, the proposed system successfully produces a 1.38 V readout voltage difference in 300 μs. This demonstrates that the proposed system recognizes various fingerprint patterns across the entire display screen with high‐sensitivity.
