THE IMPACT OF INTERNATIONAL RESOLUTIONS ON THE LEGAL STATUS OF JERUSALEM
The article examines the impact of international resolutions on the legal status of Jerusalem from the British Mandate period to the present. It analyzes key events, including the Balfour Declaration, UN Resolution 181, and the 1967 occupation of East Jerusalem. The research aims to elucidate how international decisions shape the city’s legal status and why their implementation remains limited. The analysis reveals that Israel’s noncompliance with UN resolutions, such as 242 and 2334, exacerbates the conflict and highlights the weakness of international mechanisms. The study’s novelty lies in its systematic legal analysis of Jerusalem’s status and its proposed recommendations for conflict resolution. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and its legal implications.
