Directional pattern of GPR antennas and radio images of underground objects
Georadar (GPR) allows one to quickly, in a non-disruptive way, explore the depth range of interest to archaeologists. Due to the increased power of the probing pulse, deep penetration radar makes it possible to obtain continuous information about the structure of the geological environment to a great depth – up to ten meters, in increments of ten centimeters. Develop a methodology for GPR measurement interpretaion based on the example of the results of an archaeological site survey, using information on the GPR directional pattern. The report presents the results of GPR research in an archaeological expedition of the Islamic Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Egypt in the year 2024. Examples of the experimental data interpretation are given: radar images of underground objects with characteristic features of anthropogenic origin, 2D and 3D estimates of the GPR radiation pattern obtained in theoretical model calculations.
