Deciphering the Interplay between Redox Switches and Signaling Networks in Plant Stress Responses
Redox signaling plays a crucial role in plant responses to both physiological and environmental stimuli by interacting with various signaling networks, including those involving hormones, calcium, hydrogen peroxide (HO), nitric oxide (NO), and phosphorylation cascades. This review examines the dynamic nature of redox regulation and its central role in orchestrating plant adaptation, development, and stress responses. It highlights the recent advances in our understanding of redox switches, molecular mechanisms that modulate signaling pathways through redox-based post-translational modifications. While significant progress has been made, several knowledge gaps remain. This assessment provides a conceptual framework for exploring how redox regulation integrates with broader plant signaling networks, opening avenues for future research in stress tolerance and crop improvement.
