The Perfusion–Hypoxia Hypothesis and the Intergenerational School Gym of Dreams (MSSM/ISGD) as a Life-Course Platform for NCD Prevention: A Proposal and Research Agenda
A newer version is available: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17253377. Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading cause of morbidity and premature mortality. We propose a unifying ‘perfusion–hypoxia’ hypothesis linking chronic hypoperfusion and low-grade hypoxia to carcinogenesis, neurodegeneration and cardiometabolic disease. We introduce the Intergenerational School Gym of Dreams (MSSM/ISGD), a scalable, school-anchored, life-course strength and health training platform. We outline a core experimental agenda focusing on (i) prostate perfusion and LUTS and (ii) cerebral perfusion (ASL-MRI) and cognition in older adults, with secondary tracks (vascular stiffness, VO₂-based fitness, pediatric posture, pelvic-floor function, metabolic markers). If confirmed, the hypothesis motivates perfusion-centric prevention embedded in schools and communities, with substantial public-health ROI.
