सहरनपर म उपनवशवद क पररभ: 1803 स 1857 तक क परशसनक इतहस
During the Second Anglo-Maratha War, the Treaty of Surji Arjungaon between Scindia and the British handed over the capital Delhi and the entire area around it to the British. As a result, the entire Ganga-Yamuna Doab including Saharanpur also went to the British. Whether it was the Mahabharata period or the Maurya period, the Gupta period or the Sultanate period or the Mughal period, the Ganga Yamuna Doab and especially the Upper Ganga Yamuna Doab in which Saharanpur and the surrounding areas fall, has had its own special significance in any period and the British were also well aware of this, so after gaining control over this region, they never let their grip loosen. For this, they crossed the Yamuna and attacked the Sikhs in Haryana and foiled the continuous attacks of Holkar. They also fought with regional chieftains like Sher Singh, Rai Singh etc. They also fought a fierce battle with Vijay Singh Gujar of Kunja Bahadurpur, but did not let their influence in Saharanpur diminish. In this way, with the help of the betrayal of the motherland by some Indians and through their diplomacy, the British were successful in starting their colonial administration in Saharanpur district.
