Assessment of the current conditions of state protective forest belts in Altai region

State protective forest belts (SPFB) are artificially created forests of a linear type in forest-steppe, steppe, semi-desert and desert zones, performing important climate-regulating and soil-protecting functions. The article presents a characteristic of the SPFB in Altai Krai, passing through the territory of six forestries of the region. The purpose of the study is to identify existing problems and form a general idea of the forest protective belts in the region. The current state of the SPFB, the dynamics of their development and the influence of various factors on their condition are analyzed in this paper. The authors note the negative dynamics of the SPFB in Altai Krai over the past five years. When analyzing possible factors affecting the state of the SPFB, special attention is paid to natural and anthropogenic threats. The work presents recommendations for the conservation, care and restoration of these ecosystems, based on the results of the study. The authors propose the measures aimed to reduce the negative impact of human activity and increase the resilience of these natural objects to environmental changes. The presented research results may be useful for conservationists, ecologists, biologists, as well as for a wide audience interested in biodiversity conservation and environmental protection.
