Phytochemical analysis and biological activities of Thalictrum dalzellii methanol extract
This study examines the phytochemical profile and in vitro biological activities of the methanol extract of Thalictrum dalzellii, a rare medicinal plant from the Western Ghats of Karnataka, India, which has been used traditionally in Indian folk medicine but whose pharmacological potential has not been fully explored. Qualitative and GC-MS analysis and phytochemical screening showed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, phenolics, saponins, and other secondary metabolites and identified 29 biologically important phytochemicals. The methanol extract of T. dalzellii exhibited strong antioxidant potential in DPPH, FRAP, and phosphomolybdenum assays, supported by high flavonoid content (678.83 µg QE/g) and phenolic content (859.06 µg GAE/g). Protein denaturation and dose-dependent inhibition of blood hemolysis confirmed the T. dalzellii methanol extract anti-inflammatory properties, and α-amylase inhibition and increased glucose uptake in yeast cells confirms the significant anti-diabetic activity. There is much reports on T. dalzellii phytochemicals and their biological activity. These results supports that T. dalzellii phytochemicals are potential as a natural agent source for treating diabetes, inflammation, and oxidative stress.
