MODELS OF DIGITAL UNIVERSITIES AND THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION: CHALLENGES OF THE SIXTH TECHNOLOGICAL WAVE
The article presents an in-depth analysis and critical assessment of existing and prospective models of digital universities (DUs). The research is conducted through the prism of their alignment with the conditions and challenges of the sixth technological wave, which is characterized by the integration and amplification of achievements in nano-, bio-, information, and cognitive technologies (NBIC convergence) and the dominance of intelligent cyber-physical systems. The key technological, pedagogical, and managerial characteristics of each model are analyzed in detail, identifying their internal limitations and their potential for further development. Particular attention is paid to the systemic deficiencies of existing approaches in terms of developing human capital that possesses not only competencies but also meta-competencies for effective, impactful, and ethically responsible activities amidst exponential technological development, high uncertainty, and complexity. The critical importance of ensuring the quality of education as a fundamental attribute of the new-generation digital university is emphasized.
