MANUFACTURING AND AGRICULTURAL SECTOR PERFORMANCE ON ECONOMIC GROWTH IN NIGERIA
This study examines the effect of agricultural and manufacturing sectors on economic growth in Nigeria from 1980 to 2022. Employing an Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model, the research investigates the relationships between agricultural output, manufacturing output, and key macroeconomic variables such as interest rates and inflation on Nigeria's economic growth. The analysis reveals significant positive correlations between manufacturing output and GDP, and between interest rates and GDP. The ARDL bounds test confirms the existence of long-term relationships among the variables. Both short-run and long-run ARDL regression estimates indicate that agricultural productivity, manufacturing output, interest rates, and inflation have positive and significant effects on economic growth.
