Development of a system for determining the angular coordinates of a radio signal source using model-based design

Model-based design is a modern approach to the development of complex systems that improves the quality and efficiency of design. This paper discusses the application of model-based design techniques to the development of a system for determining the angular coordinates of a radio signal source with simultaneous comparison of signals by a sum-difference discriminator. Using the proposed method, it is possible to capture and track the signal source with an antenna module or some device equipped with an antenna. One of the applications of the developed system considered in this paper is to ensure uninterrupted communication for satellite communication stations operating in the IEEE K-band. The width of the antenna directivity pattern in K-band is usually equal to units or even tenths of a degree, which entails the need to use search by angular coordinates and signal tracking to ensure stable communication. In the context of developing systems for determining angular coordinates, the use of MBD provides a number of advantages. The model-based approach allows for the creation of a universal receiver for the angular coordinate determination system that can easily adapt to changing requirements. Creating models at early stages allows for testing and modification of the project without significant expenditure of time and resources. This is especially important when developing such systems, where requirements may vary depending on operating conditions and frequency range.
