Benchmarking för design av gummibussningar
The progress in digital technologies is continuous, and with each advancement, the gap between analytical and numerical solutions continues to narrow. The current development process for rubber mounts is complex and often relies on either the best practices of external suppliers or incremental improvements between design and simulation engineers. This process can be both time-consuming and costly. A benchmarking evaluation was carried out to determine whether the simulation tools currently available to design engineers are sufficiently reliable for early-stage concept evaluation. Two tools—SimSolid and CATIA GAS—were compared to MSC Marc, a simulation tool specifically designed for nonlinear materials such as rubber and commonly used by simulation engineers and some suppliers. Both SimSolid and CATIA GAS utilize linear material models, which were verified for all tested geometries for small displacements . However, this linearity is limited by the shape factor of the rubber material. It must be taken into account, as stiffness changes in linear models due to the bulk modulus become significant when the Poisson’s ratio approaches 0.5.
