Relación entre depresión y obesidad en pacientes de una unidad de medicina familiar

Obesity is a global HealthKit problem that affects more than 603.7 million people worldwide and contributes to approximately 4 million deaths annually, mainly due to cardiovascular complications. Depression, on the other hand, is a mental disorder characterized by a persistently low mood and loss of interest in daily activities, which mainly affects women, young men,and the elderly. People with depression have high morbidity and mortality rates due to the association between physical illness, mental disorders and substance abuse, including Obesity. An observational, descriptional, cross-sectional study was carriles out on 506 beneficiaries with Obesity belonging to Family Medicine Unit No. 40, to whom the Hamilton depression scale was applied.Pearson’s chi-square of 0.432, a likelihood ratio of 0.448 and a linear by linear association of 0.015, showing a low significant association between both variables, rejecting the null hypothesis and accepting the alternative hypothesis.
