Production control using lean principles

Globalization has increased market competition where the customer priorities have shifted from product functionality to factors such as availability, customization, and sustainability. To remain competitive, companies must optimize internal material flows to enhance resource efficiency and flexibility. The aim of this study was to analyze and streamline one of the production flows at the case company. The study was conducted through interviews, observations, literature review, and document analysis to ensure comprehensive evaluation. The result indicated that limiting the amount of work in progress could help the company achieve a balanced and efficient flow. Additionally, the company should review its current working methods to support the transition towards a more pull-driven system. The expected outcome of the results was less capital tied up in inventory and increased resource efficiency.
