Abordaje de Enfermería de un Paciente con VIH: Aplicación del Modelo de Marjory Gordon e n la Valoración Integral
The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a pathogen that impairs the immune system by attacking white blood cells, thereby weakening the body's defenses. Its most common route of transmission is unprotected sexual contact. Without treatment, the infection can progress to Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), a stage in which opportunistic infections and certain types of cancer arise, threatening the patient's life. The objective of this study was to apply the nursing care process (NCP) using Marjory Gordon's functional patterns to design individualized care plans for a patient diagnosed with HIV in the Adult Intensive Care Unit. The methodology employed was qualitative, observational, descriptive-exploratory, and cross-sectional, conducted between April and May. Care plans were developed focusing on priority diagnoses: ineffective respiratory pattern, risk of pressure ulcers, altered fluid and electrolyte balance, and risk of excessive bleeding. The nursing approach based on functional patterns and the use of standardized classifications such as NANDA, NOC, and NIC allowed for the establishment of evidence-based actions, ensuring a systematic, professional intervention focused on the patient's specific needs.
