Efecto de una Intervención Educativa para Mejorar el Conocimiento del Programa PrEP y PEP en VIH en Médicos de Guerrero
HIV affects 39 million people.1 Lack of prevention knowledge leads to new cases, making educational interventions essential. 2-3 Objective: To estimate the effect of an educational intervention on the level of knowledge about pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis for HIV among medical interns at the Vicente Guerrero Regional General Hospital No. 1. Materials and methods: An experimental study was conducted from January to March 2024 among medical interns at the Vicente Guerrero Regional General Hospital (HGR) with a sample of 85 participants. The intervention group consisted of MIPS 1, n=46, and the control group consisted of MIPS 2, n=39. The Lamis 20184 survey was administered. The educational strategy consisted of lectures and theoretical and practical workshops for 3 months, with a frequency of 2 hours per week. The results were analyzed using the R statistical package. Results. An effect size of 2.07 (Cohen's d test)5 was found for the intervention group and 1.5 (Cohen's d test) compared to the control group, which statistically translates to a strong impact on improving knowledge of the PrEP and PEP programs. Conclusion. Educational interventions improve knowledge, which is important for preventing HIV acquisition in hospital and community settings.
