PREPARATION AND IN VITRO CHARACTERIZATION OF AMOXICILLIN LOADED IN-SITU BIO ADHESIVE GELS

Drug delivery systems that are in sol form before to being administered to the body but gel in situ, from which the drug is administered gradually and regulatedly, are known as in situ gel forming polymeric formulations. Variations in temperature, pH, local ions, and UV light are some of the factors that influence gel formation. Numerous polymers, such as gellan gum, alginicacid, xyloglucan, pectin, and chitosan, can be used to make in situ gels. Solvents such water, dimethyl sulphoxide, N-methyl pyrrolidone, triacetin, and 2- pyrrolidone are utilised in these formulations based on how soluble the polymer is. In situ gels are primarily administered via intraperitoneal, injectable, recto-vaginal, ophthalmic, and oral means. In situ gel forming polymeric formulations provide a number of benefits over traditional drug delivery methods. encompassing extended and consistent activity. Production-wise, these devices are easier to make, which reduces investment and manufacturing expenses.

Abstract

Drug delivery systems that are in sol form before to being administered to the body but gel in situ, from which the drug is administered gradually and regulatedly, are known as in situ gel forming polymeric formulations. Variations in temperature, pH, local ions, and UV light are some of the factors that influence gel formation. In situ gel forming polymeric formulations provide a number of benefits over traditional drug delivery methods. encompassing extended and consistent activity.
