FORMULATION, DEVELOPMENT AND IN-VITRO CHARACTERIZATION OF ORAL DISSOLVING FILM CONTAINING DICYCLOMINE
Mouth dissolving films, a new oral drug delivery system, were developed based on transdermal patch technology. These films consist of a very thin oral strip placed on the tongue or any oral mucosal tissue. Instantly wetted by saliva, the film rapidly hydrates, adheres to the site of application, disintegrates, and dissolves to release the medication for oromucosal absorption. With formula modifications, this system can also facilitate gastrointestinal absorption when swallowed. Despite significant advancements in various drug delivery systems, including oral, parenteral, transdermal, and nasal routes, the oral route remains preferred due to its painless administration, ease of use, and patient-friendliness. Continued development in oral delivery technologies aims to further improve patient compliance and therapeutic outcomes.
