Abstract

his study analyzes the economic factors influencing farmers' decisions to switch from apple to orange cultivation in Kayukebek Village, Tutur District. The research background is driven by declining apple productivity, high production costs, price fluctuations, as well as increasing demand and price stability for oranges. The method used was a quantitative survey of 61 respondents with stratified random sampling technique. Independent variables included selling price, production costs, market demand, and farming risks, while the dependent variable was the decision to switch commodities. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that all variables had a significant influence, with an R² value of 0.796. The most dominant factor was production costs, followed by farming risks, selling price, and market demand. These results confirm that economic factors play a crucial role in commodity-switching decisions to enhance income and farming sustainability.

Keywords

commodity switching
apple
orange
farmers' decisions
economic factors
