Heavenly Realms in World Religions: A Comparative Analysis
This article examines the concepts and characteristics of “Heaven” across different religions through comparative analysis, focusing on Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Taoism and Aztec beliefs. Despite diverse details, heaven is commonly depicted as a place of ultimate bliss, abundance, and reward for moral conduct. Differences are evident in the conditions of entry, imagery, and the permanence of heaven. While Buddhism views heaven as a temporary realm within the cycle of rebirth, Abrahamic religions often regard it as eternal. The study demonstrates how cultural and geographical backgrounds shape religious perceptions of heaven, which universally function as moral incentives and ultimate aspirations for believers.
