Decay of Quantum Coherence in the Presence of Informational Interaction

This work explores the decoherence phenomenon in quantum systems from a new perspective, introducing a formal informational interaction, defined by a constant L, which acts on the effective Hamiltonian of the system. We propose that this interaction, far from being just a source of noise, influences the evolution of quantum coherence and can be a key element for understanding information processing in biological and cognitive systems. We perform simulations on a two-level system (qubit) to show how the value of L and the nature of the interaction operator affect the temporal decay of coherence. Our results indicate that higher values of L can lead to faster decoherence, providing a new way of quantifying informational effects on quantum dynamics. We also discuss the implications of this approach for interpreting physical-computational models of consciousness and complex biological systems.
