28 Tadcaster Road, York: A Report on an Archaeological Watching Brief
The watching brief involved a program of archaeological monitoring conducted during the machine excavation of the extension footings. The footing trench extended to approximately 25.00 m, with a width of 0.40m and a depth of 1.00m. The watching brief identified a thick band of topsoil/post-medieval spread that extended to a depth of approximately 1.00m below ground level. Below this depth, the natural geology starts to appear. This matrix resembled what was observed during a strip map record excavation adjacent to the property's northwest boundary. No archaeological deposits were seen within the footing trenches.
