THE CALCULATION OF THE CORPORATE CARBON FOOTPRINT: A REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE

The corporate carbon footprint is the total greenhouse gases created directly or indirectly in the atmosphere asa result of all activities carried out by institutions/organizations. In today’s world, many social, economic andbehavioral negative effects such as climate change, loss of biodiversity, deterioration of the water structureand the growth of the carbon footprint, the evaluation of growth effects, making plans to reduce greenhouseemission and achieving sustainable goals of sustainability are important steps. The emergence of the corporateview of how the emission formation resulting from the activities of the institution is produced and facilitatedthe taking of measures. This method continues to be a guide for seeing which stage of growth chain. Besides, the interruption of the corporate carbon footprint, the economic benefits of the enterprises, as well as theisolation of air conditioning and the competitive advantage are highlighted. In this study, the terms related toglobal climate change are emphasized and emission statistics of greenhouse gases in Turkey are presented. Atthe same time, the calculation methods are mentioned by referring to the literature studies on this subject. These methods are the internationally recognized Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG) and ISO 14064-1:2018Standard. Furthermore, it is explained which databases are used for the calculation. The relationships betweendatabases can be divided into national and international, as well as a sector-based studies.
