Land off Highfield Lane, Prudhoe, Northumberland: archaeological evaluation
15 trenches were excavated across 4 fields. Trench 14 was moved 2m south to avoid a monitoring borehole. All trenches were 30m in length. All trenches were excavated using a machine equipped with a toothless ditching bucket under constant archaeological supervision. A single gully, containing 19th or 20th century pottery, glass and metal objects was identified in two trenches. Modern disturbance associated with mining and quarrying was also encountered.
