Катарсис через звук: музика, звукові ефекти та тиша як інструменти емоційного впливу в кінематографі
This article explores the role of auditory elements – music, sound effects, and silence – as crucial tools for achieving the cathartic effect in cinema. The main focus is on the necessity of rethinking catharsis not only as a climactic moment but as a dialogical process that engages both the conscious and subconscious perception of the viewer. Research Methodology. The study employs a systematic-analytical approach to examining the emotional impact of music and other auditory techniques in films, as well as a comparative analysis of existing research and cinematic examples. Particular attention is given to the development of a conceptual model that allows for the exploration of the influence of sound design parameters on emotional transitions and subconscious reactions of the viewer. Scientific novelty of the Research. The article presents a new approach to the analysis of sound design in the context of catharsis, where auditory techniques act as independent directorial tools capable of eliciting profound emotional immersion and stimulating the viewer’s process of internal purification. Special emphasis is placed on the harmonious combination of auditory elements as means that facilitate a dialogical interaction between conscious and subconscious emotions. Conclusions. The research results confirm that the integration of music, sound effects, and silence contributes to the creation of a multi-layered emotional space, ensuring deep emotional engagement for the viewer. The proposed conceptual model provides directors with tools to achieve a cathartic effect, expanding traditional views on the role of sound in cinematic art
