Resilient Distributed Control for Ensuring Safety and Stability in DC Microgrids Against False Data Injection Attacks

This article addresses the challenge of ensuring the safety and stability of DC microgrid (DCmG) under false data injection (FDI) attacks which target secondary control communication link. To tackle the problem, this article proposes a novel resilient distributed controller for DCmG using a robust control barrier function (CBF), which ensures the forward invariance of a safe voltage set that restricts unsafe voltage deviations of ZIP loads within acceptable operational limits. Furthermore, a control Lyapunov function (CLF) is developed based on equilibrium conditions for voltage balance and current sharing, enabling the DCmG to recover to stable states, thereby maintaining overall system stability. The control strategy is formulated as an optimization-based problem, where both robust CBF and CLF constraints are incorporated into a quadratic programming (QP) framework, ensuring real-time feasibility against FDI attacks. The proposed method is validated through extensive experiments on a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing testbed and full-hardware platform, demonstrating its effectiveness in achieving safety and stability under various FDI attacks.
