Advanced Suspension System Design Optimization via Reinforcement Learning and Multi-Modal Data Fusion for Enhanced Ride Comfort and Handling Performance
**Abstract:** This paper presents a novel methodology for optimizing the design and control parameters of advanced suspension systems utilizing a reinforcement learning (RL) framework coupled with real-time multi-modal data fusion. Current suspension systems often rely on pre-tuned calibrations or adaptive dampers with limited responsiveness to dynamic road conditions. Our approach dynamically adapts suspension parameters—including damping coefficients, spring rates, and active roll control—based on a continuous stream of sensory data, resulting in demonstrably improved ride comfort and handling performance across diverse terrains and driving scenarios. This methodology is predicated on leveraging existing, validated control theory, advanced sensor technology, and computational resources, facilitating rapid commercialization within the automotive industry, potentially leading to a 15-20% improvement in subjective ride quality and a 5-10% reduction in body roll compared to current adaptive systems.
