El sentido de la vida en personas diagnosticadas con trastorno de la personalidad: una revisión sistemática
Experiencing that one’s life is meaningful is a fundamental human motivation. When meaning in life is not achieved, existential vacuum or lack of experience of meaning in life can be experienced, which would manifest through clinical symptoms. Existential vacuum has been linked to disorders such as depression, substance addiction, and borderline personality disorder. The aim of the present paper was to analyse the relationship between personality disorders and meaning in life. Following the PRISMA procedures, nine studies on meaning in life in people diagnosed with personality disorder were selected. The results showed a significant relationship between this nosological entity and low meaning in life. It is suggested to deepen the study on the transdiagnostic role of meaning in life in personality disorders, its relationship with trauma and attachment, as well as on the efficacy of logotherapy and other psychotherapies that include logotherapeutic elements in the treatment of different personality disorders and disorders with a strong component of existential frustration.
