Mando dios por boca de moysen: para una diacronía de los somatismos locucionales prepositivos a partir de las traducciones bíblicas medievales

Two biblical translations of the Books of Maccabees from the 13th and 15th centuries, based on the Latin source, the Vulgate, constitute the corpus of this work, which focuses on the analysis of complex prepositions that include somatic lexemes (MANUS, FACIES). The comparison of various translations of the same text made at various temporal intervals offers an appropriate comparative framework for diachronic research, since it allows us to specify in detail the aspects of the use and dissemination of linguistic phenomena. The objective is to determine the distribution of these constructions, on the one hand, compared to those used in the base text and, on the other, with respect to the other solutions used by the corresponding Castilian translators. Our results show that while the 15th-century translation is immersed in the early fifteenth-century trend toward the use of Latinized structures, the 13th-century version does not present them in any appreciable way.
